Bird’s Eye Chili
The African Bird’s Eye Chili is called ‘Pilipili kichaa’ or ‘pilipili hoho’ in Swahili, which roughly translates to the ‘crazy hot chili’. Our Bird’s Eye Chilies are among the spiciest chilies in the world. The bush-like plant grows in the natural spice forests of Pemba. Our Organic Bird’s Eye Chili are gently dried, keeping its bright red color as well as its intense, hot aroma.
Aroma: Very spicy (Grade 9-10), intense, fruity
Goes well with: Pasta and salad sauces, barbeque food and Asian food
Tip: A homemade chili oil is easily produced: Cut off the bottom of the chili and then leave it in oil for two weeks in a cool and dark place.
